How to shoot studio portraits of your horse

Portraits of a horse against a black background are beautiful and classy. They will look amazing as a piece of art on your wall.

And they are not so hard to take as you could imagine! These images are easy to take in most stables. Just have the horse stand in the door opening and turn off all the lights in the stable, and if necessary cover the windows. Now your horse is standing in the light and the stable behind him is dark. Now set your camera so that you expose the horse right and the background should appear black. Super simple!

I have done a lot of these during my years as a horse photographer and they are always so much fun.
